Des Moines Sertoma Club

Will they still be unbeaten? Will they keep their amazing streak alive?

The Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team has won 19 straight as February gets under way. Des Moines Sertoma joins the fun on February 19 when we take our annual club outing to see the mighty Dogs. There will be no regular lunch program that day.

We start our February schedule with a visit by Brenda Neville of the Iowa Motor Truck Association on February 5. We'll learn how that industry is coping with high fuel prices and tough competition.

Mike Jorgensen of Iowa Hands and Voices, an organization for families of the hearing-impaired, returns to tell us how their important work is coming along on February 12. As a supporter of efforts for the hearing-impaired and for hearing safety education, we are excited about renewing our acquaintance with this fine organization.

In place of the meeting we would usually have on February 19, we will host Des Moines Police Chief Judy Bradshaw February 26.

Des Moines Police Chief Judy Bradshaw had to cancel her appearance to attend an officer's funeral; we hope to reschedule her.

Meanwhile, we will have a great speaker at our February 26 meeting. David Vaudt, the Iowa State Auditor, will bring us up to date on the state government's fiscal position. We thank Mr. Vaudt for coming to visit us on very short notice.
