Vote Sertoma in November 2010!

The elections will be mercifully over soon. We never know who will win the elections, but you always win at the Des Moines Sertoma Club!

The landslide this month starts with an Election Day visit from Kareem Richardson, Drake Men’s Basketball Assistent Coach. A key recruiter for the program, Mr. Richardson will tip us of on what Drake fans have to look forward to this year.

Dennis Goldford. professor of politics at Drake, will visit us November 16 to analyze for us what actually happened in the Nov 2 election. The voters may be in a mood to make things interesting for the next two years.

In other news, Sy Gau Scholarship Time is here. Geri Dunn, Iowa District Representative for the Sy Gau Scholarship Committee, explains:

The Sy Gau Scholarship Fund assists students with post secondary education. The intent is to challenge young adults to use their education for SERvice TO MAnkind. The Fund encourages these students to understand that success goes beyond material wealth and status. Once again there is one $1,000 scholarship available for each of the 7 districts in the Great Plains Region. We also have the $500 Merit Scholarships to be awarded to the next highest scoring applicants regardless of their district of origin. The number of $500 Merit Scholarships awarded (from none to a maximum of 5) will be determined by the committee and will be based on the previous years earnings of the Fund and/or judged application scores.
